Have you ever felt stuck with something, feeling helpless to change it?
That’s exactly how I feel with this brand-new blog. All alone, facing an avalanche of technology that constantly screams, “Use me!” It feels as though being tech-savvy should be as easy as ABCD!
It may take some time, but here I am, stuck with a username: Elations.
Not my choice, and definitely not my style. But isn’t that what life is about—making the best of what we have? That’s the real starting block.
From this starting block, we can choose to either limp along with frustration, bitterness, and resentment or run and leap with joy, gratitude, and excitement. Ultimately, it’s always our choice.
Nothing in this world is perfectly good. Likewise, nothing is perfectly bad. Perfection simply eludes us—our natural selves and our natural skills.
Even the worst person has something good in them, and the best person has something bad. Every murderer has someone who loves them, and every saint has someone who dislikes them.
The key lies in our ability to find the good and draw out the best from the starting blocks we’re given.
I don’t know why the system chose Elations for me and why the admin page says, “Usernames cannot be changed.” Yet, I can’t help but reflect on the name my mother specially gave me—Joy.
After all, “Elations” is just the plural of “Elation,” which means great happiness, joy, and excitement.
When we started life, we were all like that—excited, enthusiastic, and joyful, looking forward to the future. Somewhere along the way, though, many of us began to simply doom-scroll, look the other way, and wait to escape from whatever made us feel stuck.
How did disappointment, dejection, and dismay become the most natural things?
I also have another coaching blog http://www.theyoutomorrow.com/ that specializes in families in business, but this one is different. I want to focus on common misunderstandings and use imagery from various Scriptures—especially Hinduism and Christianity—to make them come alive in our daily, practical lives.
From the very beginning, our starting block was fine. Along the way, however, we learned to limp instead of run. Even so it’s never too late to leap, run, and jump with joy.
This blog is for seekers—people who are open to reasoning, questioning, and investigating with an open mind. It’s not for those who insist that what they know is the only truth. It’s for those who are comfortable having their pre-defined concepts turned upside down.
I don’t claim to know much, but I seek and learn. I believe life has meaning, and discovering the meanings that God has placed in the world—for all people, across time and space—is a non-stop source of joy for me.
I hope you, too, will find new meanings here and share your own.
God bless you.
